The round coaster with a paper in it is from Europe. This was bought 8-9 years ago, not sure if the brand is still available. The hexagon coaster is from US.

This is the back view of the coasters. The one from Europe has a removal plastic cover while the one from US is a cork sheet that has to be glued after the motif is put in. The one bought locally is a removal foam.

Ladies, please leave in comment what you would like to learn in the next PMC class and date. I will need to book Sharon's time. Plse revert by 30 May. Below are a few suggestions:-

1. Leaf
2. Ring
3. Brooch with setting of synthetic stone
4. Hollow beads (This requires the use of syringe. Same technique as my ring that you saw today and the necklace that I wore on Thurs class.)
5. Using slow dry clay to create pattern in clay and how to set pearl. Below is an example of what I mean. Not sure if PMC clay can do this patterning. I made the pendant using another brand Art Clay. Will check with Sharon if PMC can do this. If PMC can't do it let me know if u mind paying more to learn from another institution. Course fee is $175+GST. Materials include 1 pkt of slow dry clay, 1m of fine silver wire, 1 fresh water pearl & 1 tube of "pearl glue"(forgot the name). Confirm PMC clay cannot achieve this kind of effect.

Alternatively, Sharon has this bracelet watch that some of you like. It involves wirework. You can see the design at the back of her name card.

Claudience still can't get the turning of thread and is feeling frustrated. A lot of working class face this problem as they don't have the time to practice. Working on MRT and bus trips is one way of finding time. Don't worry about the other passengers looking at you. They are just fascinated with what you are doing. Tatting is an almost lost art.

Techniques Learn: Combining wirework, stringing and chainmail (aka Chain maille) Chainmail Jewellery: Assembling individual metal jump rings, link by link, to create a consistent pattern. You can convert these bracelets into necklaces. Just remove the clasp and attach your favourite chain or strap to the ends with jump rings. (see sample necklaces below)

We had a special guest that day. It was Jennaline's son Ah Heng. The 6 year old is a chatter box. Kah Choo became Trudy, Andrea became Gomas and I was Joys.

The 2 new ladies that join my class. They travel from Punggol and Chua Chu Kang to Tampines for the classes. That is the one thing about my classes, participants come from all over Singapore as far as Bt Batok and Thomson but only 2 are from Tampines.

Emily's little motifs. She "dyed" her rabbit into autumn colours. How cruel to a sweet little animal. The motif at the top is made using Lizbeth's Gold. The motif was an accidental creation.

The bookmark at the top is made using #60 thread. See the size difference of end products between using #20 and #60 threads

Hmm..... Kah Choo's motif colour combination looks like candy and the transparent seed beads look like icing.

Everytime I see someone'watermelon motif I am reminded of Li Keng's watermelon

Jennaline is abit upset that Lizbeth's Autumn Spice turn out to be dull coloured. Generally I don't like autumn colours but not everyone like the same things. Another school of thought is some colours look nicer the more you look at it.

This can be use as a hanging motif too. Row 2 colour looks alright even with Mercer's varigated.

One orange and one almost white bullrush?

All you need is just 1 coaster and you can keep changing the motif inside. Isn't that a deal? Only downside is you will need a different colour felt to match each motif.

This is the basket version of the SR project. The flowers and butterfly are extras that Annie throw in. Thread used is Lizbeth's Tuquoise Twist.

Someone did this. Don't know who. I am still trying to find out. She used 6 pairs of shuttles. This is worked using 6 different colours plain threads. Isn't it nice? Anyone wanna give it a try? U need to work out the number of ds to fit your doily and don't ask me for the pattern.

Most of these dollies are made using Lizbeth. Spring Garden seems to be Mdm Kew's favourite thread.

Feedback from Mdm Kew is that this particular ball of thread snap easily. She had alot of ends to sew in.

This is made using a combination of Lizbeth and Mercer threads. The turquoise thread is Lizbeth and ecru is Mercer. She has included red seed beads on the last row of chains too.

Youth Olympic 2010 Torch Relay

There is currently a Youth Olympic celebration going just at the field across where I stay as I am typing this post. I manage to shoot some pictures of the torch relay. They timed it nicely, just 1 day before National Day. Singapore is hosting the 1st summer game this year.

The 2 buses are painted the colour of the 2 YOG mascots.

The guy in orange is the torch bearer.

First saw this pattern in Karey Solomon's book. The pattern is rather flexible and there are many possibilities. That's what prompted me to try it out. I had fun pasting this onto paper, deciding how the branch should "grow".

Violet and Pink Chocker

This piece looks empty in the centre. I am thinking of putting something on it but can't seem to find anything suitable. Most flowers are either too small or look out of place. Someone suggested a row of rings on the ribbon but I find that complicates the design. Prefer something simple for this chocker.
